Time Machine Support

Vor ein paar Tage erhielt ich folgenden Anfrage per E-Mail:

Dear Sir,

I have followed with great interest your blog on the LG NAS N4B1. Having purchased this item in the US and having had no luck with LG in supporting it, your blog has been great!

One big favor to ask you: I have upgraded the firmware to the newest version 3967 but I do not see in my menu any new services (such as time machine support or extra email notifications…etc)

Could you please offer some advice?

Hi Sarah,

After upgrading firmware time machine did not appear in my case, too. I am not sure which setting changed its visibility. Try the following steps:

- Reboot your device
- Disable AFP-Sharing an enable it after reboot

TimeMachine should appear in the menu, look at the screenshot:

    Thank you Nicolas for the tip but I have tried it and it is not working for me. I still do not see Time Machine nor any other *new* feature in the recent firmware (such as new DDNS functions and new mail notifications use cases).

    I rebooted the machine, disabled AFP, rebooted it again and enabled it and I still do not see it. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated!!

    Ich kann auf jeden Fall sagen, dass der TimeMachine Support von N2B1 wirklich funktioniert. Ich habe soeben zum ersten Mal den Rückkanal benötigt und gleich im Extrem. Habe über Nacht mein komplettes System vom TimeMachine Backup wieder herstellen lassen. Aufgrund eines Sturzes musste die Festplatte meines MacBooks getauscht werden und die leere Platte bekam jetzt alles zurück.

    Echt gut, dass ich das N2B1 habe, voll der Lebensretter. :D

    Momentan hat das Sparsebundle inklusive aller Steuerungsdateien 149 GB.

    Hallo Nicolas,

    ich finde leider weder auf den LG-Seiten noch im Handbuch (http://www.lge.com/uk/support...) genaue Daten zum Energieverbrauch des N2B1 im Standby-Modus bzw. im laufenden Betrieb. Für eine Auskunft darüber wäre ich Ihnen dankbar.

    Hi, im Forum haben wir gerade die Time Machine wieder mal beim Wickel und offenbar begrenzt das NAS-System das Sparsebundle unabhängig von der Größe des eingebauten Festplattenplatzes auf 200GB, was ja heutzutage eher mau ist. Nun findet man im Webinterface auch keine Möglichkeit daran irgendwas zu ändern. Is schon schade wenn man das NAS hauptsächlich als Time Capsule-Ersatz verwenden will. Gibt’s da ne Möglichkeit?
